Missing in Brooks County at the Santiago de Cuba Documentary Film Festival

Check out beautiful Santiago de Cuba in this short travelogue!

Missing in Brooks County was invited to the Santiago Álvarez in Memoriam Documentary Film Festival in Santiago de Cuba in early March. We were part of a delegation of American independent documentary filmmakers traveling to the festival, and it was a fascinating trip, with extended discussions taking place about a variety of social and political issues as well as lots of music and dancing. Started 20 years ago by the widow of Álvarez, a Cuban filmmaker who made groundbreaking documentaries in the 1960s and 70s, the festival has a tradition of inviting filmmakers from around the world to show their films.

We would like to send special thanks to Pam Sporn and Catherine Murphy, for inviting the film and facilitating a million travel details.
